About Us
Moehau Studios is a production company based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa New Zealand. We make documentaries, commercials, music videos, short films, and branded content — all rooted in the stories, landscapes, and cultures of these islands.
Our name comes from Moehau — the sacred peak at the tip of the Coromandel Peninsula, standing between the Hauraki Gulf and the Pacific. It represents the intersection of land and sea, tradition and possibility. That's where our stories live.
Aroha Kahu

Director / Founder
Aroha founded Moehau Studios with a vision to tell Aotearoa’s stories with honesty and cinematic beauty. A graduate of Toi Whakaari, she has directed documentary and narrative projects across the Pacific.
Rewa Tangaroa

Rewa Tangaroa

Director of Photography
Rewa brings a painter’s eye to the lens. Specialising in natural light cinematography, his work has screened at Sundance and the NZ International Film Festival.
Nikau West

Nikau West

Director / Editor
Nikau’s background in music and visual arts gives his commercial and music video work a distinctive rhythm. He leads Moehau’s branded content division.
Maia Henare

Maia Henare

Writer / Producer
Maia is a storyteller first — her scripts draw from te ao Māori, speculative fiction, and the lived experience of communities across Aotearoa.
